All

I'm sorry I've been remiss in writing and adding to this page... I'm hoping to adjust the format, perhaps away from a blog and onto an actual newsletter. I'll let you all know after the next computer day.

If you haven't yet seen Winter Soldier, I strongly urge you to do so. While it isn't a film for the weak of stomach, it IS a film which will stimulate ever stronger anti-war fervor. Only about a dozen or so people were in the theatre when I saw it. I was inclined to go out to the street and start shoving folks through the door. It's very important that the atrocities of war are fully disclosed, because we've got to understand the terrible dehumanization that occurs on every level. Both the victims of torture and genocide and the soldiers become less than human in the process. The damage is forever.

Scott's Birthday

In honor of his birthday, Scott is taking his students in his 60's class on a peace march through the streets of Lebanon (Oregon.)
Already had his first spate of protestors. One student has a brother "over there" and felt it would be disloyal to join a march against the war. The student's family was angry when they read the assignment sheet---to make a sign promoting peace, and carry it in a peace march. Dad made a copy of the assignment and sent it to Lars Larsen.

Scott pointed out to him (the student) that it's not a war protest, it's a peace march. He also suggested that the student was welcome to have his sign say "support our troops," or do an alternative assignment.

I'll let you all know how it goes. If you happen to be in the Lebanon area around 2pm today, join us, the water's fine.

trying it all out

Hi friends and family...one in the same.
Our newsletter---Kithe and Kin---is being born today. I'm officially soliciting your input as co-parents/children in this endeavor.
My vision is a format through which we can share news and information; exchange ideas; barter, sell, and buy goods and services; veiw photos; share art and writing; and generally get and stay connected to one another.
I think it's time for us to act like our version of a healthy, responsible, thriving family and community.
